So I’ve been wanting to volunteer or do something where I can be active in the community again, because going back to school is not my option as of right now. I want to be able to help out when … Continue reading
26. What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?
I think the most popular notion that the world has wrong is that all black people are uneducated and don’t know any better, and if we are in college we must be on an athletic scholarship, right? I beg to differ.
I went to college. Not on an athletic scholarship, and not for physical education. I got an educational, out of state scholarship and I went to college for Art. Oh and yes I graduated with a 3.5 GPA. So suck it world!! I’m breaking odds, and I have a ton of friends who didn’t go to college on athletic scholarships either. So world, no, not all black people are athletes going to college on an athletic scholarship. And no we are not all uneducated either. I respect a lot of student athletes though because my sister was one of them and she came out of college with a 4.0 GPA. So I have no remorse for the athletes that say its hard and difficult and they can’t do their own homework because they can if they tried. If they stopped asking others to do their homework just because they are football players or such I have little respect for you because I know you can do it if you put your mind to it. You may think your just out to play sports and get the easiest degree for athletes out there. But I know quite a few athletes who have studied and graduated in other degrees other than PE and are smart as heck. I applaud those athletes. I applaud my friends who are working hard to do what they need to do to make a better life for themselves. To make a better life for their families. The ones who hussle and work hard to get things done. I respect those people. I respect all who work hard no matter what are who are taking over the world. One day at a time.
22. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
In 5 years I see myself excelling in my dream career and hopefully getting the opportunity to travel sometimes with that job. Living in a different state, wherever the wind blows me, possibly (California or Arizona?). Also hopefully married to the man I love and a possible baby on the way
In 10 years I see myself with a family with 2 kids(or I open to more), but getting to travel with my family and still working. I would have paid off my student loans by then if everything is working as planned and just living the everyday life of a woman who is happy in love and happy with my family and job
In 15 years shoot haha um have a great career in Web Design, who know, I would love to be a Creative Director and hopefully by this time I have dabbled into a lot of different aspects of design and learned a lot to lead a team of my own. I would love to see how that plays out. I also hope by this time I have traveled to a lot of places that I have wanted to and made some great memories along the way
12. Describe a typical day in your current life
A typical day in my current life starts by waking up at 7:45am and getting ready for work. I’ll brush my teeth, figure out what I’m wearing for the day, while listening to videos or watching a quick episode of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns or Boy Meets World. (really depends on my mood). I’ll check the weather as well, which will decide what I’m wearing. Then I’ll get dressed and go fix my hair. While I’m fixing my hair, i have the teapot on because I can’t go a morning without tea or coffee. Just habit! I’ll fix my lunch once I’m done with my hair and then head out. I’ll arrive at work around 9am or 9:15am depending on traffic.
We have our morning meeting at 9:30am and another meeting at 10am. In between my time of getting to work and our first meeting, I will check my e-mail. I don’t like to check it right when I wake up because I don’t like having to look at all the junk mail as soon as I wake up, wouldn’t be a good way to start your day right? Then I’ll get into my work-mode and work until around 12:30pm. I eat my lunch, sometimes I’ll run and errand if I need to, but usually just eat and take a break. The next 4 hours is all full of work and doing what I love. Time flys by pretty fast if I’m trying to figure out a problem or making a webpage work. When 5pm hits, its time for me to head out of work and then I head to the gym. I’ll work out for a hour and then head home. Take a shower, fix dinner and watch tv.
And whenever I feel super tired is when I lay my head down to sleep. Night everyone!
